'INTRODUCTION TO TATTOO' TRAINING COURSE.

ABOUT ME: I am a Professional Teacher (Cert Ed) and have many years of experience to draw on in relation to the tattoo industry, having been trained by one of South Africa's leading exponents of the art. I am now retired from mainstream employment and the 'Introduction to Tattoo' course forms part of my overall training and service portfolio.

ABOUT YOU: You've probably worn out your shoes, suffered abuse and run up a huge telephone bill looking for studio apprenticeships, without any success! Apprenticeships are undoubtedly the best way to go, BUT THEY DON'T EXIST!! If you do find one, firstly offer a prayer of thanks to your God. Then be prepared to give up 2 or 3 years of your life with little or no pay, or in some cases YOU pay for the privilege.......no I'm not kidding.

ABOUT MY COURSE: 2 days, held in Middlesbrough. The course is based on use of Rotary Tattoo Machines. Students will be limited to 1 per course, But I may be able to make an exception if your partner wishes to attend and train. There would be a reduced price for this. My courses run only on weekends and bank holidays.

COST: The course costs £500 for a single student.

THE SYLLABUS: High standards are demanded by customers and by the authorities who control the industry, this syllabus reflects these standards.

I must stress that I WILL NOT provide flesh for you to practice on, and no actual Tattooing will take place.

On completion of the course you will have all the technical and mechanical knowledge you require to set up and to complete a small simple tattoo. The next stage is for you to find the flesh to practice on, or to practice on yourself. There is no escaping this, it is what we all had to do and there is no way around it. Tattooing is not difficult. If you can follow a line, then you can do a tattoo outline. If you can fill in the colours in a design on paper using small circles, then you are half way to being able to put colour into a tattoo. It won't be perfect but that's where the practice comes in.

When, and only when you are proficient in these two skills, you will be on your way to becoming a TATTOOIST; you will only be able to add 'ARTIST' to your title when you have had a lot more practice on flesh, and you are up to a good commercial standard.

There are no shortcuts to this and I'm not kidding you that there are.

It takes hard work, dedication, a love of art, a desire to continually improve and respect for your customers.

My course will simply provide the basic knowledge to enable you to make a start, then you find your own flesh.

On successful completion of the course students will be presented with a certificate of attendance.
